Mary Beth Schafer, RPR – Founder

In 1983, Mary Beth established Smith Reporting in her hometown of Muncie, Indiana. Mary Beth is honored to offer the only stenographic court reporting agency in Delaware County. She endeavors to remain loyal to her established clients while continuing to expand her client base by offering statewide coverage.

Mary Beth’s reputation for exceptional and accurate court reporting is well known statewide, and her dedication to upholding the integrity of the record is unparalleled. Mary Beth still very much enjoys reporting depositions, and stays active in the day-to-day supervision of the business.

Laura Yates – Production Manager

Laura has been a part of the team since 2013, and now manages production at Smith Reporting. She is responsible for all aspects of transcript/ exhibit production and delivery, including hard copy transcript booklets, electronic formats (ASCII, PDF, PTX), and our online repository.

Laura is dedicated to the details, which she understands are of the utmost importance to all of our clients.

Laura graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ball State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing/ Linguistics. Her focus on, and interest in, language helps her to ensure that the written record is as accurate as possible.

Nicole Harty – Office Manager

Nicole joined Smith Reporting in March of 2016. She brings over a decade of legal experience and multifaceted office management to her role as office manager.

Nicole is the friendly voice you hear on the other end of the phone, and handles everything from scheduling and coordinating with locations, attorneys, and reporters, to billing and payroll. She endeavors to provide a seamless and pleasant experience for every client, every time.

Chayna transitioned to the Smith Reporting team as administrative assistant in October of 2017 after serving as our receptionist for over four years, so you have likely already gotten to know her. We are happy to welcome her as a full-fledged member of the office!
